I don’t know what I find more impressive…stretching the bloop single into a double or stealing home.
If forced to choose…probable stealing home. Obviously…both were great baseball plays.

It would be a lot more “priceless” if Hamels didnt shut the Nationals out the rest of the game.

The scoreboard at the end of the game is all that matters. All that posturing BS is why he got hit in the first place.

I suppose it goes in the books as a steal of home, but it wasn’t really a steal of home….. It was a pick off move to first, and Harper came home of the throw to first. Let’s not make it out to be a Jackie Robinson steal…

Harper has incredible baseball savvy and hustle for a 19 year old. Reminds me a bit of Jeter when he started out.

The kids a complete ball player. Makes plays with his glove and arm. Hits for power and average. Not to mention he hustles out routine ground balls.

Except that the 1st base coach likely reminded him that Juan Pierre was the LFer. Too aggressive would have gotten him caught. In this case, it was a good play displaying good awareness.

Thumbs up if you’re not a Nats fan, but when Harper stretched that single into a double you did a mid air roundhouse kick and a flying fistpump.

This kid is bringing some well needed breath of fresh air in effort to the league.

He also went first to third on a soft liner to left; granted, that’s Juan Pierre and his wet noodle out there, but he still read it perfectly off the bat. It’s not often I’m too impressed by anything in baseball anymore but I keep going back to the fact that he’s only 19 years old and is making some pretty savvy plays.

Important to mention is that he got hit by Hamels’ first pitch right in the middle of his back, clearly intentional. He didn’t bark at the mound, he took his base, advanced to 3rd on the single and then made a brilliant baserunning play on the steal of home. That’s how you do your talking on the field.

Then, you know, Zimmermann hit Hamels with a pitch in the leg, also clearly intentional. But that’s another thing.
