He hit number ten tonight.

I have heard it repeated that scouts think he is the best pure hitter in the system. Better than Hosmer and Moustakas. Pretty high compliment.

I guess this is good of a time as any to share a great Wil Myers story from an article in the KC Star last year.

When Wil’s dad was asked why he spelled his name with only 1 L, his response was something to the effect of: “We named him Will, with 2 L’s, but had to whoop his ass with one of them his whole childhood – now there’s just the one L left.” Wil’s dad gets it.

Even if the numbers are “notorious for being severely inflated”, he has already matched his home run total from last year. The only thing he is notorious for that I know of is busting his rear. He trains and lifts more than any prospect I have ever watched come through the system. His focus is unreal.

There’s also the fact that NW Arkansas is notorious for severely inflated offensive numbers, so you have to take his numbers there with a grain of salt.

“he’s going to make Jeff Francoeur expendable next year.” What does this say about the Royals, if Jeff Francoeur is necessary to them not only now, but for the foreseeable future if current trends continue?

Of course he can, but something has to give. There’s no way he’s hitting .336 and striking out at a .318 clip for an entire season. One of those averages is going to drop.

He can strike out all he wants if he bats .336 with a .390 OBP.
