Rob Zombie was singing about Mariano. If you look at some of the grainy footage at the time of injury, you can see electrical wires coming out of the knee. Also, in certain light, you can see a weird reflection in Mariano’s eyes not unlike that Tyrell Corporation produced owl.

…because we all know that the Met’s players find themselves needing a Doctor frequently, so the guy is VERY exerienced, and this year the Yankees are needng Doctors like they were….the Met’s…or the Red Sox for that matter.

Wouldn’t even need to necessarily be knee related. Maybe they found something during the initial blood test that needs to be taken care of before he can undergo surgery….

I think worse case scenario is that Lenox hill hospital orthotics makes an external “de-rotation” brace that essentially keeps the knee stable in place of an ACL. They are custom casted (I have one). I’m not sure if it can be trusted with such torque on his back leg pitching. If fitted correctly, the knee won’t subluxate.

They’re probably waiting till the swelling goes down further before scheduling surgery. I had my ACL repaired and had to wait to set a surgery date. This should be a non-issue.

Excessive fluid build up? Maybe MCL tear too (worst possible thing)? Maybe the knee bone isn’t suitable for a graft? Maybe a cadaver transplant won’t work for Mariano? These things could delay or even make surgical repair impossible.

though he’s right, there are a lot of things that can complicate surgery, I’ve yet to hear of one with anything other than a negative connotation.

I fear not for Mariano. This will just add to the legend of the T2002: more man than machine. More weapon than pitcher. More fire breathing dragon than…something. He’ll be back.

Oof. The Yankees drive me nuts, but baseball is much better with Mariano Rivera involved. I hope this proves to me less serious than it sounds, and that he’s able to make a full recovery and come back for a couple more seasons.
