Getty Images The Phillies made it official a few minutes ago: Cliff Lee has been activated. To make room for him on the roster they have sent down Michael Schwimer to Lehigh Valley.
Lee will be on a pitch count tonight — 80 pitches. So the Philly pen will get another chance to work the magic it has worked thus far this season.
But hey: Cliff Lee back is better news than any of that is bad news.

Let’s see if he’s lost anything.

Welcome back, Cliffy. All we need you to do is throw a Maddux.

More specifically, we need you to throw the most efficient Maddux in history. But hey, no pressure.

Well, I didn’t want to overwhelm the guy on his first day back. Jeez.

He’s Cliff Lee. Cliff Lee does not get “overwhelmed”.

They’d probably have better luck with David Schwimmer

Doesn’t Ross throw like a girl?

The offense has needed a lift, maybe we’ll see what he can provide!

Unfortunately, he’ll be facing the team with the highest pitches per plate appearance in the league to this point, which isn’t going to help when he’s on a short pitch count.
Still, encouraging news for Phils fans.

They’d probably be better off sending Danys Baez errr I mean Qualls down and Keeping Schwimmer in the pen.

Actually they’d be better off if Qualls suffered a freak injury and has to be put on the 60-day disabled list so Ruben has an excuse to get some Bullpen help pronto. (I’d bring up DeFratus or maybe someone else. Theoretically Philly has BP arms in AAA).

When it comes to Cliff, there’s always Lee-way.

It all depends on which Cliff Lee shows up. If he’s really on, 85 pitches might get him through the 8th.

We need to trade Hamels for a hitter

If things just go bad for the team and Hamel’s hasn’t signed by the deadline I will be interested to see if they make a move like that. Maybe if things go really bad Ruben considers breaking things in a big way and maybe deals Lee, etc.
