Yoenis Cespedes was scratched from yesterday’s lineup due to some sort of hand injury. It was thought that he hurt it during batting practice.

This morning Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle spoke with Billy Beane. There’s no word yet on Cespedes condition, but the hope is that the injury is not serious.  He will have x-rays and an MRI at some point today.

On the year, Cespedes is hitting .245/.319/.434 with five homers and 21 driven in.

Sore hand? Is there hair growing on the palm?

His hand can’t be more sore than Kurt Suzuki’s. In the past week, Zuk has been hit on the hand by a pitch, took a foul off that same hand, and last night, got lashed by a Bautista backswing on the thumb of that hand (his catching hand.) He came out to catch sporting what appeared to be a hollowed out goat horn over the thumb. Then later in one of his at-bats he made contact with Arencibia, although that was a lesser blow.

Still, with CoCo on the DL (with a sinus infection-that can’t be fun), and Cespedes out, that leaves the Chronicles of Reddick in center. More adventure than chronicle.

Hmmmm, wonder how’s he going to feel about passing on those two extra years in about a year an a half.
