This. Plus with LaRoche’s contract ending this year, I think the longer-term plan is to have Morse at 1B and find someone to play CF and bat leadoff.

I think your first mistake is believing Washington will get anything more from Werth this year. He might come back in three months and play okay, but there’s also a pretty good chance he won’t.

I’m not so sure about this. Once Morse and Werth come back, there will be no room for Bourjos. They’re not going to sit Harper down, and I don’t see them moving Morse to first, as La Roche has been very good there. Then again, I felt the same way when they signed Edwin Jackson. Maybe Rizzo likes to stockpile players.

The Jays are also said to be interested in Hamels and Victorino. Usually when the Jays are mentioned in trade speculation, 99% of the time it does not happen. The deals they do complete are usually a surprise as AA operates in secret.

I’d suspect the Yankees are interested too, at the right price. With Gardner down for the next month, the yanks would be looking to replace his defense and speed, the 2 things Bourjous has.

The Jays check in on everyone. They do not need this player, but if he is a good fit in a 3 way trade, they might be interested.
