Because it is an insanely slow news day …

May 14, 2012, 3:31 PM EDT

Camera

… I link funny old-timey pictures of funny-looking old-timey baseball players posing for the camera.

Fun time-killer: try to mentally delete the facial hair and see if any of these guys look like any current major leaguers. I think one of the “cool-guy poses” guys looks like John Smoltz. That’s the best I can do.

Enjoy.

Some of those staches are phenomenal.

Is it me, or does Deacon McGuire (pic 7) look like Joe Blanton?

    • marshmallowsnake - May 14, 2012 at 4:15 PM

      I thought Chipper Jones.

Also, is Jack Farrell, Philadelphia Quakers, 2nd base, Wilford Brimley?

Wow. I had every intention of coming back here and making fun of how rediculous this post was…until I clicked through the pictures. That is pure gold. What the hell were people thinking about?

The Indians called up Jeremy Accardo and you say it is a slow news day. That is Jeremy Accardo I am talking about. Oh ! Nevermind! Cool pictures!

    Keeping it Old School.

Dan Casey looks like Gollum may be his Father. He’s all serial killery looking too.

I’d like it better if the comments didn’t suck on those pictures. We’re way more clever than whoever wrote that stuff.

I’ll throw these out there. Your mileage may vary.

Wm. De Visser looks like Doug Fister
Jim Fogarty looks like Rick Ankiel
George Hall looks like Jordan Schafer
Sid Farrar looks weirdly like he could just be a guy on the street today, but not any specific ballplayer
Nap Lajoie (not in this picture but generally) looks a bit like Justin Verlander. Face shape thing.

if you need something to do, how about going back and editing all your old posts for the ridiculous amount of grammatical errors.

You mean, “how about going back and editing all your old posts for the ridiculous NUMBER of grammatical errors?”, with a question mark.
