That said, I’m fascinated that throwing at batters becomes the next logical step of the great men who built this country. If Paul Revere were alive today, apparently he’d be leading the league in purpose pitches.

The real issue is WHY throwing at other players has been allowed to happen for so long–somebody in power must’ve endorsed it or not seen much wrong with it, because it persists to this day. At least actual beanballs don’t happen that much nowadays.

I do know one thing though: Hamels, Kershaw, Kennedy…they’re all generating more controversy, which means more money for the news people.
