The worst-kept secret in baseball each year is where the following year’s All-Star Game will be held. People start reporting on it the year before that, for cryin’ out loud, and they’re always right.

This year’s poorly-kept secret: that the 2013 All-Star Game will be at Citi Field. The official announcement comes tomorrow. It will be the first time the All-Star Game was played in the Mets’ home park since 1964.

Craig — Is there any truth to the rumors that MLB is putting the announcement for 2014 off to give the Cubs time to refurbish Wrigley Field in celebration for the 100 year anniversary? That seems to be a popular rumor in Chicago, and it would close Wrigley for the 2013 season for renovations while the Cubs temporarily played home games at US Cellular that season.

Doesnt the ASG alternate between AL/NL ? If so then it could be at Wrigley an 2015 since 2013 will be the Mets and 2014 will be an AL team

The Pirates and the Giants hosted back to back a few years back. So it seems like they make exceptions.

like the Twins, since they have the new park and all (which seems to be the justification nowadays).

If you go by the premise of new ballparks getting an AS game than the Yankees deserve one too(yeah I know they got one in 2008). Or could it be that Bud Selig and FredWilpon are a-hole buddies?

The last ASG at Ebbets Field was 1949.

Dodger Stadium should get a game. Last time there was 1980.

So, by this logic, why wasn’t the All Star game at Fenway this year for it’s 100th anniversary?

I’m not saying it SHOULD be that way by logic. I am saying it’s a rumor in Chicago. Plus Fenway hosted an ASG relatively recently. 1999, I think. That ASG sent us into the new century.
