Great News! I’m going to the game tonight in L.A. It’s always cool to see an up and comer in his major league debut. I wish Matt the best it will be loud and crazy here tonight. You’re right Spud it looks like Lilliquist is slightly over his skis. We sure need a good outing by Lohse, Waino to get back to his old self, Garcia to get the head out of his ass and Carp to get healthy.

Adams is actually a 1B, so…he’s got that going for him. The Cardinals have been playing a SS and 3B (Greene and Descalso) at 2B, two different 3B (Craig and Carpenter) at 1B, and two different 3B (Craig and Caprenter) in RF…..and the lack of familiarity with those positions shows on a regular basis….Adams may not be the best defender in the world, but at least 1B is his normal position.

Duncan is missed although I’m not sure if it can be quantified as “most”, the Cards actually made the majority of their run last year while he was on his leave of absence before returning for the last series of the season in Houston.

This roster has been a calculated gamble from the start, they knew it was risky from the get go
and hoped organizational depth would get them through times when the fragile vets invariably went down for periods of time.

I doubt they’re in freak out mode just yet but I suspect there’s collective breaths being held waiting for the other, or in the Cards case of late – another shoe to drop.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the new leadership in STL handles this adversity.

TLR thrived in these situations and had veteran coaches and stars in the clubhouse who bought in to the “us against the world” mentality.

I hope those traits have become organizational and the new regime is able to circle the wagons.

I suppose we’ll know soon enough.

I think Adams will get the majority of playing time, but Carpenter is batting .283/.348/.505. They’ll keep him pretty active at first base if Beltran’s knee and foot are cooperating.

Doubt there will be much of a spilt, the Cards didn`t pull Adams from AAA to not provide him with AB`s. I think Adams will see the large majority of time at 1st
