It’s up – midweek attendance is averaging in the 21-22,000 range. That’s up from last year’s 10,000-12,000 on a good midweek night. I’ve been to a bunch of games and they’ve all been much better attended than any I went to last season, that’s for damned sure – and it ain’t just the smaller seating area, it’s the actual bodies in the seats. If you’re feeling curious tonight, I’m going out to hear some jazz but you might want to check the Feesh’s web site to see if there’s a total for the season or an average per game, and then Google up last year’s numbers to see how they compare.

More likely it’s because fans don’t want to miss all the mounting, horrible injuries. Maybe MLB finally learned a marketing ploy or two from NASCAR and Formula 1.

Well, this it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison. But still, this is huge considering Boston and Philly really have nothing to watch this year.

Sure, but of course now everyone’s going to say the giant attendance over the weekend was because it was interleague play, failing to acknowledge that the weather was gorgeous across much of the nation.
