Everything that I have read states that the Bundy kids are workout warriors. You don’t often see baseball players working out like football players anymore.

I want to know why 30 scoreless innings in low-A ball is news. Is this really rare and unusual? It strikes me as a situation where a guy is playing in a league well below his ability level. Sort of like 6’1″ 12 year olds throwing 90 mph pitching no-hitters in Little League.

You’re an idiot. The O’s have lacked minor league depth for 20 years. They have fast-tracked too many careers to make up for a lack of major league depth. That has resulted in lack of developing a starting _______________ from the farm system since Cal Ripken.

They are treating this kid with supreme cautiion. If you fast-track him to the majors, his ulnar tendon will not handle it and Tommy John will get yet another royalty check (see S. Strassburg). His college career started 2 months ago.

I hope we see him at OP@CY in late May 2014.

If you think I am wrong, look at how the Reds are handling Ardolis Chapman. He needs to build up the arm stremgth needed for starting by coming out of the bullpen.

He’s kind of sort of pretty good. AND, it’s nearly time for a promotion.

I have a feeling he’ll jump over High A directly to AA and then the real scrutiny will begin.

BTW, in case you all are wondering what it takes to be a MLB Pitching Stud? Well, it helps to have an equally motivated older brother, and a regular strengthening routine that you do together . . .

He shouldn’t need that much time in the minors. May/June of next season. It makes financial sense for the O’s to fasttrack him to the majors.

Excellent question. It might depend on your timeframe. Walker, if you’re looking for help in the shorter term. Bundy, for the longer term. Though if Bundy can find success at High-A and even AA this season, the difference between their ETAs may not be that big.

I expect that when Baseball America and the other prospect hounds do their mid-season reviews in July, both will move up. With an outside shot at taking the top slots vacated by Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, Matt Moore, and Jesus Montero.

The plan is one more low A start before moving up to Frederick. It’s not even the allstar break yet people, he will most likely end the year in AA. Not a bad first professional year for someone who was throwing against high school kids last spring.

Believe it or not he’s still working on his offspeed stuff. I remember hearing that during one of his first starts he threw something like 14 offspeed pitches in a row.

But yes, move him up already.

Has to do with what teams were looking for, upside or ability right now. Cole (#1) has the sexy fastball and dominated in college, Hultzen (#2) and Bauer (#3) were known commodities with better feels of the game (also college vs Bundy HS) and are dominating at the higher levels. Lots of analysts talked about how extremely deep that ’11 draft was, and so far it’s showing it across the board in the minors.

I understand the desire to be careful with their prized prospect but what is the point of keeping him at low-A at this point? Are they waiting for him to throw a 27-strikeout perfect game? You can cap his innings and still move him to an appropriate level where he is at least a little bit challenged Sheez!

I hope he doesn’t turn out to be one of those minor league wonders like Chris Tillman has been. Tillman threw a no-hitter at AAA in between bouncing back and forth between the majors, but never was able to put it together to be effective at the big league level.

Seriously though, I like the thought of ending his year in AA, and 2013 ending in AAA, with the slight off chance he sees a start or 2 @ OPACY next September (October?!). Too early to say real deal, and we’ve had past issues with drafting pitching (see Hobgood, Matt) but I have a good feeling about Bundy and the potential this Orioles pitching staff has for years to come…
