Paul Konerko escaped a serious injury after taking a Jeff Samardzija pitch to the face Friday and the White Sox first baseman is back in the lineup for tonight’s game against the Twins.

Konerko, who hit .367 with eight homers, nine doubles, and a 1.058 OPS in 39 games before the beaning, missed a total of just two games with a laceration and swelling above his left eye.

He’s hitting third tonight as the White Sox look to climb above .500 for the first time since May 1.

Wow that’s two to the face for Paulie that I remember. I was at the game where he was hit in the helmet two years ago. I was in the scouting seats (best. seats. ever.) and heard that crack like it was 40 feet away, well b/c it was 40 feet away. He hit a HR his next at-bat. Badass. Welcome back, Paulie.

Paulie is a pro. He is under appreciated.

Here’s a guy who is worth every penny of his contract.

Now he’s batting .399 and there hasn’t been one subsequent post about him.
