Looking at all his peripheral numbers, it was clear he couldn’t continue getting the results he was getting much of last year. Alas, now he’s bordering on worthless and will fetch nothing of note in return.

Of course, I was glad to see Derek Lowe shipped out of town, regardless of the sizable chunk of salary eaten in the process. Now, it’d obviously be nice to have his numbers in this rotation. Just goes to show that general managing a major league franchise is incredibly difficult work.
