As unfortunate as the plethora of injuries seem, perhaps "where" the injuries have occurred should be the real focus. Had Molina, Furcal or one more of the starters gone down the impact would be more significant. As sir1389 indicated a look on the bright side may be prudent, as youngsters Carpenter, Robinson, Chambers, Adams, Craig, and Hill all see MLB playing time they wouldn't ordinarily get. And that experience will be vital going forward. Better to find out now if they can compete in the Bigs, or not, and the off time the veterans experience may well bode beneficial in the future.

To be 6 over .500 at the quarter pole, with an inter league schedule that is favorable on the horizon, and many of the wounded returning after Memorial weekend, things look pretty bright for the defending WS champs.

Matheny is getting a managerial test under fire, and so far, so good. Kudos to the organization for having able bodied replacements ready in case our aged, fragile, front-liners stumble. Time for new sunglasses, not crying towels.

I was wondering the same thing as I look at my fantasy teams whose benches are comprised completely of players on the DL.
I suspect in decades past, players sat out a couple of days and were back on the field because the technology didn't exist to diagnose some of the tears and strains that can been seen on MRI's.
Has there been another leap in technology that we non-medical fans have missed?

I'd rather these injuries come now, give some young players some playing time, and leave veterans better rested for the final month push as well as the playoffs.

I hear you. As I posted the other day...a once incredibly deep team has become very thin...very quickly. As for the Central...we shall see. Of course, last year the Central was "bad" and they had (2) of the last (4) teams standing.

At the start of the year people were asking what the cards will do with so much depth. Thinking who they should trade..good thing they didnt.

Better questiin is are the cards playing that good using backups or is the central that bad?

Remind me to never drink water out of the Mississippi River. Man, that's tough.

Real question though. Are there actually more injuries in MLB this year as opposed to other years. Or do I just hear about more injuries because there are more outlets reporting them?
