Reds fan who caught two homers was honorary captain last night

Caleb Lloyd

This is fun: Caleb Lloyd, the guy who caught the home run balls hit on consecutive plays on Monday, was the Reds honorary game captain last night.

I’m guessing he also got the chance to meet Mike Leake and Zack Cozart, so there were all kinds of fringe benefits.  No word on whether, had the Reds turned in a poor performance, he would have been allowed to call a closed-door meeting to rip them a new one.

Also, I’m assuming that despite his notable plays in the outfield stands on Monday, Dusty Baker will soon put him in the bullpen, because “that’s where he’s truly needed.”

Pretty awesome. Well done by the Reds.
Reporters asked him about his experience after the game and Lloyd said ” I,m just happy to be here, hope I can help the ball club”

A random fan from the stands is as good as any for the most over-rated – and peurile – title in baseball.

Dang you, Dusty Baker! Dang you to heck!

Caleb Lloyd is on steroids. It’s plain and simple. As the main stream media, and a variety of mother’s basement keyboard hacks have repeatedly stated, rare and seemingly impossible feats in baseball are only possible with the assistance of that morality eroding, history rewriting, anti-Christ stuff we commonly call steroids. The chances of catching a home run are very small. The chances of catching two home runs, minuscule. The chances of catching two consecutive dingers? Well, that’s steroids territory right there.

Funny, classy move by the Reds. What’s the owner’s name again? I want to get him two free tickets to the next Over the Rhine concert. For his spirit’s encouragement.

He deserves plenty of credit for being the only Reds fan with two balls.

The HR balls aren’t his anymore. 1st one went to player and 2nd one went to his buddy who deflected the ball his way.

I still like the comment I read earlier saying that this feat is rare indeed, but if he was at a Marlins game and seating in the outfield seats, he would have only had to overcome 50/50 odds of getting both balls… would have been either him or the other fan out there :)
