I think Chipper Jones could start ten games a year, and he’d still get a lot of love. The Braves have worked the roster around his health for at least the last five years, keeping an excellent backup on the bench for the 50 or so games Chipper’s out. Wilson Betemit, Omar Infante, Martin Prado, and now Juan Francisco have each spent significant time as Chipper’s other half, and the broadcasters have called that roster spot “Chipper’s caddy” since at least 2007, maybe longer.

Jones is limping into retirement but remains productive. He could probably squeeze another season or two onto his career if he went to the AL as a DH.

What a bummer. Chipper is clearly a first-ballot Hall of Famer and he has nothing left to prove, but it still has to be extremely frustrating not being able to stay healthy.

Is there any Braves fans out there that think Atlanta’s ownership is acting to slow to get another quality 3rd baseman?

We know Chipper Jones is first time HOF!

The Braves can’t keep hurting themselves with a always hurt player!
