I have news for those who are laughably trying to call Dickey a “fluke” — The flash in this pan has been going off with regularity every five days for the last two years now. If this is “fluke,” I would like a whole rotation full of them!

While there have no doubt been more successful knuckleballers than Dickey, I can’t think of one with better strike zone control than him. If you can avoid wildness, very tough to fail as a knuckleballer. As a Mets fan, this has been one of the rare things I am thankful for, from the Minaya era, as Dickey was without a doubt, Omar’s crowning achievement.

Yesterday everybody was ready to declare Santana officially “back” after shutting out the Padres. Let’s see what Santana and Dickey do over their next starts before we get too carried away by these results. The Padres offense has been pathetic and might even be getting worse. The good news is Carlos Quentin should be joining the team this week.

I hope never to see a season without at least one knuckleballer taking the mound. Those guys are few and always fun to watch them baffle hitters. Even the most disciplined batters just cant stop themselves from swinging at those floaters.
