Oops, bad typo, Beachy has given up 6 unearned runs, not 3.

Of course, ERA isn’t a perfect stat (or even a very good one) and un-earned runs allowed still count. Beachy has given up 3 “unearned” runs (nearly 1/3 of all runs he’s allowed). Lynn has yet to allow an “unearned” run and Hamels has allowed only 1. Beachy isn’t even in the top 30 in the NL in xFIP (which, while not perfect, is a far better measure of pitcher performance than ERA).

Hamels deserves to finally be racking up the wins. He has been getting screwed over by the Phillies offense pretty much his whole career.
