We of the Cheesecake Liberation Front reject the false, bourgeois cake-pie dichotomy. Cheesecake is neither cake nor pie; it is in a class of its own, superior to bourgeois cake or pie. We will continue our eternal struggle to make the people see the light and abandon their attachment to bourgeois confections.

Teams do make scheduling requests. IIRC, I read years ago that the Orioles always ask to be on the road the weekend of the Belmont Stakes. And as noted in the post, the Red Sox are always at home on Patriot's Day. But I doubt all such requests are honored. For instance, the Reds used to get to open every season at home, and I can't imagine they're too happy that that's no longer the case. And I'm sure every US team wants to be at home on on Independence Day.

So how does MLB decide which requests to honor? And why would they not do a no-brainer like having the Jays play at home on Victoria Day and on the road on Memorial Day? I mean, there's no reason for *anybody* to oppose that.

Back when I first began my work transition, a friend had offered me a job at his bakery. Nevermind the salty mouths of the two main cake bakers, and forget the fact that the best pie they could come up with was a canned pecan filling placed within their pre-fab crust. These guys really baked some creative cakes. That's where they shined.

I was told that, when asked by customers if our danishes and chocolate filled croissants were fresh, to respond, "They are baked fresh daily." And, of course, with a bakery that smelled as good as this place, one would assume that, yes, these salty tongued men spent the greater part of every early morning baking these treats by hand. Which is kind of true, but only because they used their own hands to open the frozen package of treats and then used their hands to place these frozen treats in their massive oven.

Baked Fresh Daily has always been a mantra for me, so I had no problem playing games with the public. And I got to take home most pastries we didn't sell for the day, and, yes, these items were tastey. And, yes, these guys would have to spend about 3 hours making their own danishes and pastries that wouldn't taste any better than the frozen items they baked in the oven every morning.

Nothing against your mom, Cur, but I have to reserve my skepticism for cake bakers. I mean, you're trying to pass off a cheesecake as a cake! It's a cheesepie, Sir.

Back when I first began my work transition, a friend had offered me a job at his bakery. Nevermind the salty mouths of the two main cake bakers, and forget the fact that the best pie they could come up with was a canned pecan filling placed within their pre-fab crust. These guys really baked some creative cakes. That’s where they shined.

I was told that, when asked by customers if our danishes and chocolate filled croissants were fresh, to respond, “They are baked fresh daily.” And, of course, with a bakery that smelled as good as this place, one would assume that, yes, these salty tongued men spent the greater part of every early morning baking these treats by hand. Which is kind of true, but only because they used their own hands to open the frozen package of treats and then used their hands to place these frozen treats in their massive oven.

Don't claim it as cake b/c it is clearly up for debate. Of course, everyone really knows it's a custard pie, but I guess some people like to argue lost causes:

'fax, you try that ice cream (make it cookie dough, Ben & Jerry's for preference) on some of my mom's chocky cheesecake with that french chocolate she gets from her cousin in England and the cheese from the organic dairy here in town, and you'll find yourself climbing over a sea of small children to get some.
