Not only is Fredi immediately giving Constanza a start, but he’s hitting the pitcher eighth so he can employ the shrewd double-leadoff man lineup. I’m sure this will bear all sorts of deliciously ripe and juicy fruit.

At least it’s just Juan Francisco sitting down in favor of the bat licker. Martin Prado will shift from left field to third base.

Now that I’ve bitched about it, though, I’m sure the Braves will score eight or nine runs tonight and Fredi will be further convinced, despite all the telltale signs to the contrary, that Jose Constanza is a major league caliber baseball player. I don’t really care, though, as long as this losing streak ends.

Let’s see, believe Peavy tore the lat away from the bone and was gone for the year and Huston Street currently on DL with the strained lat, another 6 week or so injury. So the projection is about right. Cole, how much do you want to stay in Philly name your price? Oh, wait, Ryan and Chase and Doc leaves about $60 million on the DL. Can the Phils afford Cole, but the real question can they NOT afford to be without him?

Panic would have been contacting the Indians about getting Derek Lowe back, after all they are paying about 2/3s of his salary.

As I recall, Medlen was being used as a reliever in Atlanta before his injury, but was expected to become a starter eventually. It was just delayed a couple of years. So I don’t see this as a sign of panic. Panic would be bringing up Teheran before he’s ready or re-signing Kenshin Kawakami, or something like that.
