A bovine blowhard of a Macondo city councilwoman, one Miriam Alonso, ran a vile mayoral campaign some years back entirely in Spanish and actually refused to speak English, seeking to rally the Parque Jurrasico Cubans and calling the mayoralty of Macondo “a Spanish-speaking office.”

What she didn’t count on was that the first generation of American-born and/or raised Cubans would find her an embarrassment and voted in droves for her opponent, a relict good-ole-boy machine politician named Steve Clark. Ah well.

And where is she now? In prison for federal campaign fund violations and assorted corruption charges. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get convicted on corruption charges these days?
