The Iron Giant sat out virtually all of spring training with injuries, so, in effect, April was his spring training, and he was probably still residually gimpy for a few weeks into the first month of the season. This is what the Iron Giant looks like healthy. This is what he looked like all the way up through the minor leagues.

This is why fans are going to keep on coming to Macondo Banana Massacre Field after the novelty of the place itself wears off.

Actually, I thought Stanton & the hitting coach noticed a slight change how he held the bat. There was some comment about holding the bat 4″ up/down that made the difference in his timing. So there was “something” wrong with his swing but nothing like a 2011 Adam Dunn issue.
