If the Phillies lose Hamels, I think they make a serious run at Wright. Even if they keep Hamels, they still might make a run at him.

What do the mets offer wright? A winning tradition? A legitimate chance of a ring? A large contract? All of these things have a better chance of being achieved someplace other than in Flushing. The Mets can’t even appeal to Wright being settled in NY. He isn’t married, no children. Nothing holds him here. In fact, the older he gets, these quality of life issues will affect him more because he’s single. And on top of it all, they’ve now pissed him off. Met’s never do anything “wright”.
