Jason Bay is sufffering from the PswI problem - conjuring visions of the Jeremy Burnitz trade from the day he arrrived. They should have had someone in the front office to adivse them against the signing but the PwsI has just not acquired the same type of credibility that things like WAR have for some reason.

Bay seems like a good guy, humble and hard working. He deserves a good break, as do the suffering Met fans. Here's hoping he comes back and can contribute and stay healthy.

Too bad for the Mets. As a Mets fan, I can say with certainty that Neuwenheis is much better, and younger, and I am not sure that either Hairston or Baxter are a downgrade. I know in the Mets fantasy world, Bay gets hot, and they find a sucker at the trading deadline. Better to accept that he is a sunk cost, use him, at most as a platoon hitter against a very tough lefty, and a bat off the bench. No team would trade a box of baseballs for Bay, even if the Mets ate half the contract.
