Joey Votto really likes Minute Maid Park

Joey Votto hits everywhere, but he really, really loves hitting in Minute Maid Park.

For his career, he’s 55 for 129 with five homers, 19 doubles and 23 RBI in 32 games there, for a line of .426/.479/.736.  That’s by far his best numbers at any park where he’s had 50 plate appearances or more.  He’s been even more lethal in recent years there, as he’s hitting a cool .500 in 66 at bats in Minute Maid since the beginning of 2010.

Last night was no exception, going 4-for-4 with a homer off Wandy Rodriguez. For the night he drove in two and scored three times. He’s at .345/.475/.621 on the season with nine homers and 32 RBI.  Just nutso.

Could it have anything to do with his hosts?

And Reds fans on twitter think he’s walking too much and hitting too many doubles.

sfs1, what Reds fans are you talking about? One or two whacked out fans, label Red’s fans as idiots???? I think so…… Probably not even real Red’s fans, band wagoners. Votto is playing awesome, like an MVP. Money well spend.

My apologies. I amend my statement to “And a small, but very vocal, minority of Reds fans on twitter think he’s walking too much and hitting too many doubles.

Houston is going to American League to get away from Votto.

No, Houston is going to the AL due to extortion by big Bud. After all, they will be facing Texas and the Angels 35+ games a year. Not to take anything away from Votto. He has feasted on week Houston pitching for the last four years. But it won’t get any better in the AL west.
