The Bay Area got to see its version of the double header yesterday with the Giants sweeping the Cubs during the day, take the BART train across the Bay and catch the Athletics in my favorite yellow jerseys in the night game. Giants and A's mamnagment should put down their bad attitudes for a day like this and do a joint promotion. Doesnt happen often and could really be fun with train cars full of fans of both teams traveling together. Anyway, Posey took 4 wLks to go 0 for 0, and Vogolsong was good too yesterday.

There's something about returning home that unnerves Scott Feldman. The Burlingame High grad and College of San Mateo alum is 1-5 with an 8.10 in Oakland, in front of friends and family, and evidently nobody else based on the size of the crowd last night. (Note to Lew Wolff: When Jarrod Parker v. Josh Hamilton can only draw 8,000, you need to think more about marketing. Or selling the team to someone who does).

By the way, in addition to everyone else, Parker owned Hamilton last night. First AB: Parker threw Josh nary a strike, as OG might express it. Second AB: Meet Mr. Change-up, Josh strikes out. Third AB: a teasing fastball, but off the plate, amidst the change-ups. 12 MPH difference. Grab some pine.

Wow! Talk about using a hitter's aggressiveness against himself.

As I've said before, Parker is the real deal. And as Glen and Ray said on the broadcast last night, that sigh of relief after Michael Young's single was the A's management and front office knowing they could pull the kid before the pitch count got into Santana territory. I love watching Josh play, but Parker has everyone here buzzing today.

Hell, there are days when both of our teams do play and don't.

Aside from the fact that this tyrannosaur is just cool as hell and is exactly what my stroll garden is missing, I just have a thing for Mondolian fossils. On July 13, 1923, the great American explorer and paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews discovered the nest of the Protoceratops* in the Gobi Desert, thereby proving conclusively that dinosaurs laid eggs.

However, he was unable to determine which came first.

Anyway, do you know what the "T" in T. bataar stands for? Most folks really don't. It's a bit of paleontological sleight-of-hand that those power-mad Linnaeans cooked up for us.

*It's now been established that it was the nest of Oviraptor. Oh irony, etc.

The Feesh did not play yesterday. John Buck did not go 0-3 with a walk; Chris Coghlan did not hike his average to .157; Tweeter did not ground into two double plays with one out, and we don't know which Ricky Nolasco that was sitting in the dugout - the good Ricky or his evil pod person twin. Some days are just like that. Meanwhile the Mutts, like a lamprey that had attached itself to the soft white underbelly of the Feesh for the past few days, seem to have let go and drifted a half game south of them. In other news, some feeshermen off Wales found an almost intact giant squid carcass yesterday. That's a lot of fried calamari. I hope they had plenty of bottles of marinara sauce for dipping in the galley.
