2011 post-all-star Ogando is still better than the slop the Rangers are throwing out there every 5 days.
You're assuming that Oswalt would have matched no hit innings last night. Seems like the offense is slumping along with the pitching and bringing the Rangers back into reach.

The Rangers have been a .500 team since May 1, with a couple of their weaknesses on display last night:

- Inconsistent starters: Feldman is the long guy, notionally he should be good for a couple of spot starts, but he hasn't been good. He was two pitchers last night. The guy in the first kept the ball down and had excellent lateral movement. The guy in the second floated a couple of hangers that were hit hard (and out, in Inge's case) and his other stuff was underwhelming. 8 runs later, the game was already over.

But it isn't just Feldman. Look at the starts for Lewis, Harrison, Holland and Darvish. Everybody is averaging 6 innings. Not bad, but the ERA's range from 3.34 to 5.11. Average game scores are between 50-55. That's basically average. Oswalt hopefully will make a difference by replacing Feldman, but it will be at least 3 more Feldman starts before that happens.

- Defense: last night in the second inning Young at second could not make a play on a ball to his left that Kinsler gets to easily. 1 extra out. In the same inning Weeks is hung up off second on a ball that Beltre takes too long to get back to second and is safe. Two extra outs. When your pitcher is struggling you can't give the team extra outs. It is wasn't just last night. Inn May the Rangers allowed 26 unearned runs, only the 4th time since 1972 they've done that. Tellingly, 23 of those came during losses, only 3 during victories.

Oswalt has been sitting there waiting to be grabbed since the end of last season. It's a bit facetious for the Rangers to be champing at the bit now, don't you think?
