Reuters Alex Avila missed four games with a tight hamstring, gave things a go last night, left early when he aggravated it, and now it looks like he’s going on the DL. Jim Leyland is taking the blame for putting Avila back in when maybe he shouldn’t have:
“We found out it was probably a mistake on my part,” said Tigers manager Jim Leyland. “If you want to blame somebody, you can blame me for that.”
Avila underwent an MRI last night. The results aren’t yet known, but the starting catching job is going to be Gerald Laird‘s for a while, it seems. Because his hamstring is totally skippy.

You have to love Leyland, he’ll always take the heat for himself and others.

He has no choice but to take the heat, but the dumb decisions are almost always his.
