@lostsok the surgery wasnt delayed because of swelling, it was because he had a blood clot in his leg as well.

The length from injury to surgery shows just how bad this was. They have to wait until the swelling is down. I blew mine and it was almost six weeks. My knee was never the same. Not a Yankees fan, but I can’t imagine anyone–even Red Sox fans–were happy to see an end like this to a career like that….

Turn on your sarcasm detector and reread Craig’s comment. He is mocking how surgeries are REPORTED–note the word “characterized”–not how serious they actually are. Craig’s sarcastic point is that an unsuccessful surgery would still be reported as successful. In other words, medical pronouncements on surgical success are worthless. Is the horse beaten to death yet?

The tone of this article is disgusting. Any surgery is dangerous. Only compounded by Mariano’s recent blood clots. To make light about “what if” it didn’t go well tells me a lot about your character.
