So you don’t mention Molina because he is clearly better than Ruiz. You mention that McCann is horrible this year, I see a bad may (.681 OPS), solid may (.796 OPS) and a horrible start to June (.476 OPS), however I am willing to still take a guy that has put up 6 straight great catcher seasons with a career .836 OPS. McCann is still in his prime and is just slumping, he has proven that he is an all-star, I hate the team, but still respect the man. Now to your Posey comment, if you stopped at Posey being established, I would agree, “overhyped”, according to you…ha! Look Ruiz is a nice little player, not taking away from his start, but I think other players are more deserving to make the squad, based on history and ability.

Feel the same way about Kemp and Braun going in over Melky.

Jed Lowrie is easily the best SS in the NL right now. Last i saw he was hitting .290+ and leading NL shortstops in homeruns. If he was putting up these number for the Red Sox he would be number one, but he is an Astro. Yes, I hate fan voting.

McCann has been horrible this year. Posey is not an “established” player…he is a heavily hyped player…and actually not as good as Ruiz has been (who has been good for 4 years now…people are just now starting to notice).

You just made my point. Yes Tulo is the better player. He’s the better bet for the long haul. For 1 game however I would rather have the player that is playing better. That player is Furcal.

The goal is to win the game, not reward the players who are having the best season. Tulo is a better player then Furcal, he just is. When Bud made the All-Star game more important then the other 162 other games he changed the way people should vote. Who would you rather have on your team for 1 game, that is how people should vote.

The bigger joke is a fanbase whining about getting Carlos Ruiz a starting nod in the All-Star game over much more established and better players in McCann, Posey and Molina. Carlos Ruiz is good, but a majority of his AB’s are out of the #7 hole this year and sorry the All-Star game is not, “ohh you played well from April and May let’s vote for you like crazy in June so you play in July”. If he is a reserve fine, but as the voting currently stands I would take Molina and McCann over him, not to would be lunacy.

BTW Molina would be my choice as the starter even over my own guy (Posey).

Have to go with you on this one. I try not to be too much of a homer. But any conversation of NL second base that doesn’t start with Altuve is worthless. As long as the fans vote you don’t get the best.

Short stop is tougher, but Lowrie should be in the conversation.

On balance these are pretty good choices. No doubt that Chooch will be selected even if its not by the fans. Posey, Molina, Chooch & McCann will all likely be on the team. Can’t have enough catchers. Furthermore, with first base down in the NL, extra catchers might find playing time there.

Also, Jose Altuve and Jed Lowrie belong on the team.

Keep in mind “this time it counts”, so fans of an AL team are purposely not voting for the best NL players. At least they should be. Home field advantage matters so maybe instead of saying the fans are doing a bad job you should realize they are doing exactly what Bud asked them to do. As a Yankees fan I hope Furcal passes Tulo. “This time it counts” come on AL fans lets vote for a team we can beat.
