No. 10 overall pick David Dahl has agreed to a $2.6 million deal with the Rockies, who save $100,000 compared to the slot value for the pick of $2.7 million.

Dahl had committed to play college ball at Auburn, but the high school center fielder from Alabama will instead begin his pro career after ranking as the 12th-best prospect in the draft class according to Baseball America.

ESPN.com ranked Dahl as the draft’s 20th-best player, noting that “his solid set of tools points to an above-average regular but not a star.”
