Kyle Drabek left his last start early the other day when he felt a “popping” sensation in his elbow. The diagnosis: a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

He has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to yesterday and will be replaced by Brett Cecil in the rotation.

A sprain sounds better than a tear.

I could look it up, but that’s no fun… I think a sprain pretty much is a tear, it’s just not a complete tear, so there’s still some hope of it healing.

Yes, sprains and strains are also tears, with a sprain being the more minor form of tear and the most likely to heal completely with rest and PT.

    brett cecil…ow.

Sit. rep. in Beaver Baseball, pitching edition: Alverez leave’s pitches up in the zone and he took a ball off his ankle the other day. Romero can’t find the strike zone and we does he gets hit. Hutchison is a veteran stud one start, a rookie kid the next. Drabek walks a ton of guys, and sprains his UCL on a slider. Morrow has been a rock, took a ball of the ankle, and strained his oblique.

The bullpen: Sergio Santos, ace closer, has dippydoodleitis of the shoulder. Everyone else is exhausted from pitching from the 3rd inning on in multiple games.

Consolation? The hitters are starting to hit and they play the Philies next. This weekend is gonna be tense.

Not good. Might be needing that second TJ at the ripe old age of 24.

Well, I guess all there is left to do is take the UCL out and learn a knuckleball.

I am going to correct Craig slightly. Cecil is taking Morrow’s spot in the rotation. Cecil will pitch on Sunday which was originally going to be Morrow’s start. Expect Chavez to be called up a bit later to pitch in Drabek’s spot in the rotation.

It appears he’s got another TJ in his future.
