Matt Holliday‘s injury is no longer a big mystery.

According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the outfielder is dealing with a “hip flexor condition” that has roots dating back to last month.

It’s not the type of ailment that will require an immediate disabled list stint, but it seems likely that Holliday will be given a couple games off this week. He was removed from Sunday’s extra-innings loss to the Royals after a flare-up, and it’s doubtful to fully heal during Monday’s scheduled team off day.

Holliday is batting .282/.365/.484 with 12 home runs, 12 doubles and 41 RBI through 282 plate appearances this season. The third-place defending World Series champs are set to open a three-game interleague series with the Tigers on Tuesday evening in Detroit.

Not that I lack interest in conditions besetting a team that plays real baseball or anything, but, um…where’s Calcaterra and ATH this morning? It’ll be afternoon in the East Coast Bias time zone in about forty five minutes or so. Is this one more 2012 apocalyptic warning?

hard to tell if that is crankiness or worry from the aged Gator,,,
concern and annoyance blur with age

Isn’t Calcaterra on vacation? He was tweeting about his kid getting sick right before they left for a trip somwhwere.

Discount Padres tickets, maybe got mugged outside the friendly confines of the yard set in the best climate anywhere.

Didn’t catch that. I hope Mookie is OK, even though, as a rule, children are horrible.™

Check out the Jon Jay post and comment thread. Drew is letting us go ATH by committee until Craig decides that the left coast is too weird for him… you drew your beloved jousting fish for coverage.

More than ATH, waiting for the local account of the Feesh feedings,,,,

Stuck ‘em under the Jay thread with the rest of the fragments of confusion in the wake of the great Calcaterra abdication of 2012. Also, in the Cobb thread about ten posts or so back last night. They play the Beanbags tomorrow night; more Feesh fan masochism on tap. I doubt if the day off will do them any good; they’ll just wear themselves out chasing that pallid northern strange. Those women can go from zero to sixty off a barstool with their net-stockinged legs crossed faster than an orbiting rail gun shell.
