What inning??? If you suspect that, you change them and not cry days later. Did Cincy steal theirs also? Both managers had velcro up their butts and just watched the horrible pitching. They may have bet the overs through Pete Rose. No other explanations!

Was at the game. It was AMAZING how much better the indians were at thelate once someone was at 2nd base. Friend and i commented on it. Of course, i thought it was coincidence and didnt even think about signs.

SUCKER: Thanks Mr. Obvious. The entire point was just that.
Metalhead and I are always jawing back and forth about Cardinals/Reds.
It’s generally all in fun as well. Of course…your attitude reminds me a lot of the inmate studded lineup at Paul Brown stadium so I will be sure to take your comments with a grain of salt.
In summation…YEAH…HELL YEAH…when a Redlegs player whines like a little bitch you bet your BUNGALS loving ass I am gonna call him on it. Wow…

If pitchers weren’t generally so damned stupid, signs could be more complex. I cannot tell you how many times I have reminded pitchers that when a runner reaches second, the signals change, but still end up crossed up, cause anything more complicated then 1 finger for a fastball, 2 for a curve etc is too complex for the higher functions of their cerebral cortex.

There are plenty of exceptions, and it is unfair to generalize, and I have no idea about Latos, he could be a member of Mensa for all I know, but the collective IQ of pitchers is far below that of most regular position players.

As has been stated, unless hidden cameras are in use by the opposition, or some other nefarious means of garnering signals, all is fair in love, war and baseball. Catchers can be responsible occasionally, but Hannigan has always demonstrated smarts so I doubt if that is where the problem originated.

There is absolutely nothing illegal about stealing signs from the field of play. That’s why teams have signs instead of the batters politely turning their backs and covering their ears while the pitcher and catcher discuss what pitch they want to throw.

I am confused.

Why do they have signs to begin with as opposed to the catcher yelling out “CURVEBALL”?

Why do they make the signs complicated?

What’s this idiot going to complain about next? “Well, if you go back and look at the tape, the Indians were swinging the bat at the pitches I was throwing…that’s dirty pool”.

If someone is stealing your signs, THAT’S ON YOU AND YOUR TEAM.

agreed, in fact I have taken to calling him edinson latos! but according to my fellow reds fans you have to understand he is only 24 and eventually he will get better right? right? yea just like volquez did,another trade where the reds gave away way to much to get a average pitcher at best. like you said he is the weak link in the rotation. where are all those people who wanted to trade Homer Bailey at now? and Bronson Arroyo looks like the Arroyo of old now that he is not pitching with mono like he was last season. his numbers would be even better if dusty would stop sending back out to steal another inning when he is done.don’t believe me? watch a game he pitches and you will see 6 strong innings followed by being sent back out for the 7th only to give up the tying or go ahead runs THEN dusty takes him out after the damage has been done. happened every game but 1this year. Cueto is the ace of the staff that latos was suppose to be,he may not have the same stuff but has the numbers latos wishes he could come close to.

Shin-Soo Choo clearly looking for a breaking ball after they changed signs “shows me a little something.”

Possible reasons for this:
A. Pitch Selection sucks
B. Pitch Sequencing is too easy to figure out
C. You can’t throw anything else for a strike
D. Research on pitching matchups
E. Cheating

Yep, and there is apparently no way he could be tipping his pitches or just very predictable in his pitch selection in particular situations….and, you know, executing poorly.

You don’t need to steal signs when the pitch is a handing breaking ball over the middle of the plate.

This sign stealing claim is a weak excuse used by some pitchers who get hit hard. Hitters are not dummies. They have scouting reports. Often they make the right assumption about what pitch will be thrown.
