I think Nick Franklin will be the sleeper in this promotion, potentially offering more (or at least as much) to the Mariners as Hultzen. The Ms are fat for pitching, but shortstop?

Despite Brendan Ryan’s homer last night in the win over the D’Backs, he’s a lightweight at the plate with only a .179 avg., and his backup Kawasaki is not much better, hitting .189. If Franklin continues swinging the bat well, he’ll fit in nicely at Safeco.

So glad the Pirates selected Cole and left the M’s Hultzen. Don’t the Pirates have Cole in A ball? They aren’t gonna rush him, but A ball.
