Petco is an extreme pitchers' park. It doesn't matter if the pitcher is a legitimate stud, or a relative bum. That's the territory. It can't be disputed, pitching half the games in Petco helps the cumulative stats. I don't think the author is caveating his stats; just saying that will his skills, pitching in Petco will no doubt improve his expected stats, from a fantasy standpoint.

Why does every post concerning a Padre pitcher's ability have to be qualified by the fact that he pitches at Petco? We get it. It's a big ballpark, however stating that a young pitcher with two career starts SHOULD post impressive numbers because half of those starts are at Petco is over the top. He's a young pitcher that's learning how to start. He has depended on throwing heat, now he needs to learn how to pitch through a line-up. He was supposed to spend 2012 in the bullpen as the 8th inning set-up guy and then get the benefit of a full spring training in 2013 to see if he could handle a starter's role. Seven pitchers on the disabled list altered those plans. He's been given three starts at AA. It's going to be learning process, he's probably going to take some lumps, big ballpark or not. Impressive numbers will probably be very subjective. I just hope the experience doesn't ruin the kid.
