I am from Chicago and have lived in Massachusetts for over 25yrs. Obama did what any true Chicago baseball fan would do–talk trash when we get a chance,a rare event. That any dumbass like some of the posters and Romney would use this as an attack issue, confirms the obvious–they are desperate and have no substantive issue to run on. The problem with Romney is not his tax bracket but his proposed tax policies that would destroy our recovering economy. Tax cuts for the upper middle class and upper class tax brackets did not work during 8yrs of Bush and will not work/still are not working now. Romney wants you to waste your time thinking about the MLB rather than the game he is playing with our economic future.
Also, Obama at least has a sense of humor and the courage to tweak his own supporters, while Romney lies at the drop of a hat and tells everyone what he thinks they want to hear–where is the humor in that?.

This country isn't failing, but it does have a failing infrastructure and for that you can thank the republican congress. There is a transportation bill that they've been sitting on for a year where hundreds of thousands, possibly, didn't have to lose their homes, had the congress allowed a vote on the bill. This is the bill that would employ up to 5 million people over the next few years while fixing some of the most dangerous structures in this country. We have 70,000 failing bridges and roads and the congress has decided to put it on hold, because it would make the President look good. Who cares who looks good if people get employed and off of unemployment insurance? YOU guys. You prefer to further cripple hurting families and this is why I say you are not Christian. This is funny. mornelithe – thank you. You are the first commenter to address the topic of this article. I didn’t understand the article as I didn’t hear the speech. And I live in Boston. But now that you remind me the trade sent Youkilis to Chicago, Obama’s comment makes more sense now. And it had to be light-hearted. That’s how I hear it (and I live in Boston!). Obama had lived in Chicago. So it’s a bit of a rivalry type statement–for fun.
And now I can’t believe Romney jumped on that. Poor choice in my mind. He should know well the various rivalries that exist for Boston sports teams with other cities’ teams.

Who’s paying the bill? the 50% of Americans that pay no income tax? How about folks who under report their income, sre they shouldering their load too.

Listen folks, i’m all for dragging corporations like GM across the carpet and tweaking the capital gains tax a bit, but hell, be fair, it’s not just the wealthy.

And again, be fair, Romney these days may make the bulk of his money off of his investments. But i’m sure he’s been taxed to code on both his civil service earnings and any speaking or consulting wages he’s accrued.
