His ERA is a little elevated, yes, but that seems almost entirely due to what appears to be a team-wide rise in HR/FB%, and it looks like even that’s correcting itself, as he hasn’t given up a HR since the first day of June. All his other peripherals are completely in line with his recent years, including batted-ball profile, opposing plate discipline, and pitch movement. His FB velocity is down a tick, but his recent history does show a tendency to improve on that as the season goes along. I’m just not seeing any evidence to back the assertion that he hasn’t been sharp.
