I was in Ouray, Colorado several years ago. Weekend night, town fair slowly wrapping up, just milling about with my family — when suddenly an explosion rocked the valley (Ouray sits at the end of a box canyon). It wasn’t very nearby, but given the geology, that hardly mattered. I asked a local what was that? Eh, that’s just (name of some eccentric resident), he sets off dynamite every once in a while. Good grief.
