Cashner is now a starter, and if he pitches like his did in his last outing, he could be an ace. Rizzo will hit 30-40 homers a season at Wrigley, but even if they moved the RF fence in at Petco, he wouldn’t hit nearly that many for the Padres. Look at the slash line: the .600 slugging looks good, but some scouts, and not just on the Padres, think the .267/.313 is Rizzo’s best case, with 180-200 Ks. Josh Byrnes found no takers for Rizzo, except the Cubs, now run by the guys who drafted him in Boston.

the padres are seriously gonna regret letting him go, dont get me wrong cashner is a solid flamethrower but still rizzo my become the next phenom not named harper or trout and i would rather have a guy who can smoke the ball and be and RBI machine than a guy who only pitches an inning now and then.. cashner will be a great closer one day tho

No it’s probably from the last 40 or so games he played on the Padres without hitting a home run. He started off decently on the Padres and then just slumped the rest of the year, got sent back down, came back up in September and couldn’t hit again.

His defense is a lot better than I thought it would be. Kid can really handle himself around the bag, which is great to see.
