The guy throws up a 3 run inning every 3rd time he takes the mound! If cutting back on that counts as “huge upside”, then sure.

The Yankees didn’t give up much, (though Ryne Sandberg was once a “player to be named later”), but you didn’t get much either!

He got booed every time he pitched in Philly? no offense, but rumor has it that Santa Claus gets booed in Philly. Seriously, all he’ll be is a stop gap until a few other pitchers are ready in a few weeks, one being David Aardsma, and rumor has it that Cory Wade will be put on the DL shortly.

The Yankees coulda gave us a box of Dunkin Donuts for Chad Qualls. He sucks and no team deserves him more. There is NO Upside to Qualls, all down. He blew so many games for the Phillies, hence why everytime he pitched he got booed and everyone knew the game was over. But I guess only Yankee fans will think positive and that he won’t be a bad deal…..considering they gave up next to nothing for him……I wouldn’t want him on any team for free, let alone to give absolutely anything up. Ask anyone who watched him this year, Phillies fans or not will tell you he blows. Goodluck New York, you’ll need it with him.

I don’t expect anything from qualls. Neither do the Yankees. In that respect, he’s all upside. They didn’t give up anything for him. A PTBNL? They can offer a pop corn vendor? Cash? Lol. If he doesn’t record outs? Then it’s one more sentence on the back of his baseball card.

It’s fair to say the Yankees gave up almost nothing, to get a player underperforming, with a huge upside. Let him through a few innings, then decide if he’s worth keeping. I’d pitch him in low stress situations to see what he’s got. He’ll have to be kept on a short leash, though. We can’t afford mediocrity, or worse, to to occupy a roster spot.
