I mean…you do realize the fans vote the starters…the players vote the reserves…and the Manager picks the remaining spots that are left (after the obligatory player from each team is choosen). You realize this right? If so…you realize TLR had SIX PICKS LEFT TO FILL.

Try to learn a little about the selection process “Football”chic. It will help you understand things.
After selecting the MLB MANDATED PLAYER REP’S (meaning…a player from each team not already selected is required to be in the ASG)….TLR was left with (6) players to select.
HE SELECTED ZERO CARDINALS.
Do your Homework prior to spouting off. Otherwise, your ignorance is illustrated for all to see.
Please know this isn’t something that only pertains to you. There are apparently a great number of Redlegs loving people out their that don’t know their ass from the proverbial hole in the ground.
Yet…they “whine” nonetheless.

skerney, the point is the system makes you have to sit at your computer and vote over and over again like a mindless drone. Or it forces a team’s front office/marketing to go on a ridiculous get-out-the-vote campaign to get their fans to act like mindless drones. Sorry, but my time is too valuable for it. I’m going to vote a handful of times at most, but I’m not going to become a mindless drone

They should change the system — especially if they’re going to keep making the game count for home field advantage. Why not let the managers, coaches and players pick the starting lineup and most of the reserves, and then give the fans a handful of reserves to choose? That’s the extent of what the fan influence should be. Otherwise they should just rename the game to the mindless-drone-ballot-stuffing-all-star-game and stop pretending it is something else.

Three Giants were voted in? From their own website:

“The Giants’ get-out-the-vote drive pushed Cabrera from fourth place among outfielders in last week’s final voting update to first. The switch-hitter surged to a total of 7,521,784 votes”

Ballot stuffing….nothing new but always entertaining, these players should be embarrassed. Anybody who follows the game knows they weren’t the best, or either the second best for that matter.

I’d just like to remind everyone that Phillies fans once voted a broken down RETIRED man to the all star team. Reds fans once stuffed the box so heavily that they elected 8 starters to the NL team. Wright deserves to start, sure, but the ASG is what it always has been, a popularity contest voted on by the fans. The Giants fans just showed up more than Mets fans. NYM’s you have a great third baseman, next year come strong and vote him in like the SFG’s fans did for the Panda.

LED is a moron…….Chooch has better numbers than Yad does…..hence is better than him this year. Yad is a great catcher no doubt about it, but this year Chooch is tearing him and all catchers up. You said defensively too…..Chooch is one of the best, if not THE best defensive catchers in the league. Ask any pitcher that see’s the plays he makes and all. Someone said average guys steal on Chooch, which is bullshit, and better players attempt to steal on Yad, yet again bullshit. I won’t say either is bad, but Chooch has better numbers THIS year, so he gets the nod. Both of them SHOULD have gotten the start over Buster Posey…..that’s in the numbers as well, but i’ll tip my hat to the fans for voting Posey the starter, he deserves to make it, just not as the starter. Someone else said Chooch is arrogant or something……which is definitely not true. He’s one of the most humble guys on the Phillies and never takes enough credit in games, the perfect games and all he’s been there for. So get your opinion on someone based off of the truth, not bullshit.

It’s a game for the fans tools ! If it was a stat thing then let the CPU pick and see if u like the game I’m pretty sure people wouldn’t tune in as much.
