Mat Latos, Robinson Cano are your players of the week

Jul 2, 2012, 3:51 PM EDT

Mat Latos AP

Gosh, it seems like these things happen every week! Anyway:

Mat Latos is your NL Player of the Week. Latos was 2-0 in back-to-back complete games, while striking out 20 and allowing but a single earned run in each start.

Robinson Cano takes the honors in the AL.  He hit .414 with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI  and five runs scored in seven games including a couple of notable game-winning shots.

I presume we’ll get an announcement about Player of the Month soon. No word on when Player of the Fortnight will be named.

But Grandal is on pace for about 162 HR this year, so the trade still looks bad…

The Reds finally are getting some payback on this guy who cost a bundle to start with.

So, you haven’t heard who the Players of the Weekend were? Bummer.

Yasmani Grandal does something so amazing, it’s never been done before in the history of Major League Baseball, and he doesn’t even get Player of the Week. That honor goes to a Yankee. Just incredible.

How dare they not give a Padre the AL Player of the Week award!
