Really??? They didn’t draft Carp or Waino. And if you can find one single major leaguer that has good mechanics that won’t eventually need TJ surgery then show him to me.

The fact is that throwing a baseball the way it needs to be thrown to be effective is not a natural or healthy motion.

I think it’s almost inevitable that most elite level pitchers will need TJ surgery before they retire. Just way too much torque on the elbow ligaments.

They keep drafting, developing and signing guys with poor mechanics. Great attitudes, competitive ballplayers, but bad throwing motions. As a result, the injury parade will continue. Wainwright probably has another year and a half before his shoulder or elbow blow again…

Well, this makes it bitter sweet for Reds fans. We wanted the Reds to beat the birds, but not this way. We wanted the Reds to finally beat the best the Cards have, not the guys they will have to bring up from Memphis. I don’t think they can pull off another miracle like last year. So, I think it will be the Reds in the central, unless the Pirates refused to die.

In one of those annual surveys of fellow big leaguers, Carp was recently rated as one of the biggest trash talkers, right behind Nyjer Morgan. So he does have a bit of a reputation of acting like a turd at times, losing his cool at times out there on the diamond.

For all those that think you can just suffer through the pain or go to rehab for TOS- take it from someone who suffered with it for years… Taking 6 years to be diagnosed… Going thru rehab that doesn’t work… Then went through the surgery of the removal of my first rib and a brachial plexus reconstruction… Along with 5 months of intense post surgery rehab… It’s not as easy as you seem to think. Cut the guy some slack and get your facts straight on his diagnosis before you try to play doctor and what you think is best for his career. It’ll only hurt him more in the long run the longer he puts it off.

The idea would be to rehab through the injury so he can pitch again this season, then have the surgery in the off-season.

If he cannot pitch now and cannot pitch until he has the surgery, why is it there an issue of having the surgery before the end of the season? If he has a six month recovery after the surgery, he could have the surgery done now and be ready by spring training next year. I was hoping to see him come back later this season, but if he cannot, I would really like for him to be ready for next season by having this surgery soon.
