Gator, You know that Ozzie isn’t responsible for a new class of descriptives.
Lenny Bruce and later George Carlin did that for us years ago. Several of Carlin’s classic routines were taking certain expletives and reworking them into other parts of speech.
While we may lament the decline of vocabulary and the ability to communicate coherently, Ozzie is merely an example and not the cause. (Texting and Twitter may be the final death blow.)
And…I’m originally from Jersey; therefore, I’m long past even noticing expletives in conversation.

For some perverse reason I’m not as offended by Ozzie as I used to be when he was in Chicago. Maybe I felt that the Castro thing blew up into such an absurdity that it made me more sympathetic. Or maybe that he has been such a caricature of himself for the last couple of months that I just laugh. I’m glad he’s not in Houston, but he certainly has supplied all the color we thought he would.

He’s correct, but if Bell had been anything other than a big shitburger all season (and face it, 5 blown saves in half a season and an ERA of 6.39 for a closer is one HUGE steaming pile of shit) it would be a whole lot easier to join him in that belief.

So his asterisk can only be used this time…once Bell stinks the joint up again in like 2 days it’s on like Donkey Kong.

Thanks for reminding us that there’s a difference between adverbs, adjectives and nouns. Slobbering Ozzie, of course, has created a whole new class of article adjectives as a subset of “expletives.” You’d be surprised at how many on here need that little jog once in awhile to distinguish their parts of speech..

I know I’m being THAT GUY, but expletives are words that could be removed from a sentence without taking away any meaning. For example, when Ozzie says, “That’s why this f***ing game is not f***ing fair,” he’s using expletives because, if you take them out, it reads, “That’s why this game is not fair.” When he hypothetically asks, “It’s Ozzie talking s***,” that’s not an expletive because it removes an essential piece of meaning from the sentence.
