First Evan Longoria reinjures himself and then Daniel Bard gets lit up.

Major league players are going to start avoiding Rochester, NY at all costs at this rate.

I sure haven’t. But its also his velocity. He used to throw 98-100 with control, now he’s 93-96 and wild.

It’s his head. He was always less effective when he let people get on base. He was never as good coming in the middle of innings with runners on. Even when he was throwing well, he wasn’t effective closing. He’s the opposite of a guy like Padilla, who looks angry, defiant and determined when runners are on.

I think the Sox may have had a chance to salvage Bard after his one relief appearance this season, when he got the crucial outs in the pivotal inning, and the crowd went nuts. I think he could have built on that, perhaps.

For the Sox fans, have you noticed any mechanical differences? He was never this wild from the few Yanks/Sox games I saw (just bad against lefties). This is obviously far worse.

So sad. But this started in September of last season. It was obvious to everyone but Terry Francona that something was wrong with Bard, but he kept trotting him out there to blow leads.

Maybe he’s Rick Ankiel version 2.0. I bet he’d have a cannon from the outfield too.
