The Tigers are interested in Matt Garza

Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Tigers are interested in Matt Garza, though there are no serious talks yet.

This is not the first time they’ve been here. Back in January David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com reported that the two teams were “down the road in talks” regarding Garza and nothing came of it.

Garza is 4-7 on the year with a 4.32 ERA.  The Tigers could use him. But then again, a ton of other teams could too.

Twins should trade Liriano for Garza, but hey let’s be realistic!

Ahh, the rare trade that helps neither team.

Unless he can field about 5 positions at the same time or strike out every batter he faces not sure he is their most pressing need.

I think they”d be better served going after Quentin to either play right and/or DH & Scutaro from the Rocks. I just read he is on the market.

Just feels like Boston or Washington is in Garza’s immediate future…..

The tigers were actually talking about getting garza a few weeks ago and then max started pitching as if he had something to pitch for, so they have looked towards 2nd base as 1st priority when it comes to the trade deadline.

Do the Tigers even have enough in their system to get Garza? It’s pretty barren.

They’ve got Nick Castellanos, but it’s going to take someone better than Matt Garza for the Tigers to part with him, I’d imagine.
