Everyone is mad that the bucs are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Andrew is a far better hitter then people think and will hang with the big guys. This is a PR move to get the fans into believing in the Zolton season of the bucs. Let us pirate fans have something we haven’t had in 20 years.

height + errors made + grams of saturated fat eaten per week + time taken running to first

My whole point is that this thing has nothing to do with stats. I want to see guys that will hit home runs, hit a lot of them, and hit some distances most of us wouldn’t dare to speak of during the season

If McCutchen hits 20 or so, one goes 520 ft., and he wins the damn thing then maybe I’ll just keep my mouth shut until the WS trophy gets handed out.

I made a mistake looking at the home run lengths. In fact, McCutchen’s longest is about the same as Braun’s and a little shorter than Beltran’s. Still, 446 feet is a long home run.

He has been one of the best power hitters in the game this year. Also, as the article mentions, he has hit a lot of home runs. What other qualifications does he need? Being overweight and terrible at defense?

The guy has a .602 slugging percentage, second in the league. He leads the league in total bases. He has hit more home runs than anyone since May 8th. His longest homer is 446 feet, farther than leaders Ryan Braun and Carlos Beltran.

McCutchen may not look the part, but he has played like a true home run hitter this season. I think he deserves a shot.

I don’t like this. Yes, he’s hit some HRs this year, but that doesn’t make him a homerun hitter per se. I want to see guys that will club 500 ft. shots in this. I don’t want to see guys humiliate themselves Brandon Inge style.
