Latos may end up being a solid frontline starter. However, at this moment the Padres clearly got the better end of this trade. Volquez is what he is, and right now that's a middle of the rotation guy. Watching Grandal and Yonder on base all weekend against the Reds (and combining to pick off base runners) supports my claim.

It would be nice to have Yonder and Grandal right now to use to trade for additional needs.

The Latos deal was a good deal. Who did we give up? Nobdy. Volquez is garbage (petco has helped). Boxberger is average. Grandal is shaky behind the plate. I see it as a Latos for Yonder deal. I am a Yobder fan but there was nowhere to play him. 1st is blocked and Heisey should be in left.

right I forgot he is a genius for what he did in st.louis. and he has made great deals for the reds like edmonds, renteria ludwick and trading 4 players for 1 in the Latos deal. while Latos has looked good his last 3 starts still not worth what they gave up to get him. sorry but signing guys from the scrap heap because they were once good players on your former team does not qualify as freat moves. and hey let's not forget the willie harris signing either.

if he is not brought here to start every day then why bother? his numbers demand he be the starting centerfielder and lead off batter compared to stubbs. the last thing Reds fans want to see is dusty platooning somebody else out there. stubbs has proved he is not up to doing the job and he refuses to Give Heisey the chance he gave to gomes and now to stubbs so why bring somebody in if they are not any better? given Walt's track record with the reds it will probably cost them Billy Hunter to get him so no thanks!

He is injured but should be back in action after the all-star break. And he does not suck. He has been dicked around by the Phillies. I guarantee that if he gets a call up, he will impress.
